Birding Fountain Creek - September 17, 2004
The day trip to Fountain Creek was enjoyed by 10 Denver Audubon members on Friday, Sept. 17th. In addition to Fountain Creek we also stopped at Big Johnson Reservoir, and then enjoyed a plentiful buffet at Western Sizzler before we ended the day at Bear Creek Nature Center. We saw 37 species on this very warm September day. The highlights were very good looks by all of the Virginia rail and the sora. We all enjoyed the beautiful habitats and also the good fellowship. A surprise to us was the heavily loaded apple trees at Bear Creek Nature Center.
