We Do Research…
We are actively involved in numerous research initiatives to increase greater understanding of the health and status of birds and non-game wildlife throughout the metro Denver area and beyond. Through our dedicated and engaged members, we accomplish this research in these ways:
- The Lois Webster Fund – funding Colorado non-game wildlife research and education
- Bird counts: the Great Backyard Bird Count, the Christmas Bird Count, and spring bird counts.
- Colorado Breeding Bird Atlas
- Breeding Bird Surveys
- Annual mountain plover and raptor nest surveys for the U.S. Forest Service on the Pawnee National Grassland.
- Plover Studies
Several of these research activities such as the seasonal counts, Atlas Study, and Breeding Bird Surveys are Denver Audubon member supportive efforts in coordination with other organizations.
