TRIP FULL – Denver Audubon Bike & Bird
September 6 @ 8:00 am – 11:00 am
Bike and bird up one of the premier canyons in the Denver area. Waterton Canyon, just south of our Audubon Nature Center, provides a unique view into a wildlife ecosystem that should not be missed! Cycle the six miles up to Strontia Springs, do a little birding along the way, and take a break for more birding and snacks once we reach the top. Hopefully we will spot a Golden Eagle along the ridges of the canyon, hear a Canyon Wren echo among the boulders, or see an American Dipper hunting in the river.
Riders must be at least 14 years old, provide their own mountain bike or road bike (tire repair kits recommended), helmet, water bottles, and a light snack.
**This is a 12 mile round trip ride, so participants must be in good health and capable of completing the full distance. Riders without helmets will not be allowed to ride with us.
Meeting Place: Audubon Center at Chatfield, 11280 Waterton Rd, Littleton, CO 80125
Leaders: Audubon Naturalist and Mountain Biker Rick Hunter and Kate Hogan, Community Outreach Coordinator
Registration required. No fee. Donations to Denver Audubon appreciated! Limited to 10 participants.
