Birding Insights Adult Workshop – “Colorado Hummingbird Lifestyles and Behavior” – Field Trip

Participants on the field trip must also be registered for the classroom session on July 24.
Learn about the lifestyles of various Colorado Hummingbirds. The class emphasizes natural history of hummingbirds, including hummingbird aggression, metabolism, and territoriality, courtship and nesting, wing sounds and dive displays. Identification of Colorado’s Hummingbirds [adults and immatures] will be discussed. Which plants provide nectar are included. Tina will talk about ideas to attract Hummingbirds. Find out places in the US where you can see many hummers. Some hummer species are dropping in numbers. Learn how you can help these birds.
Meeting Place: Classroom – Audubon Center at Chatfield, 11280 Waterton Rd., Littleton, CO 80125. Field Trip – TBD
Leader: Tina Jones, Audubon Master Birder. Tina selected the Hummingbird plants for the Audubon Center at Chatfield’s Hummingbird garden and her yard is featured in 3 Horticultural books as a habitat for Hummers and Songbirds.
