Spring Conservation Challenge
Denver Audubon's Community Conservation Effort
Did you know that backyards play a CRITICAL role in providing habitat for our local birds and wildlife? Our backyards and shared greenspaces are particularly important in urban areas for they are pieces of a larger ecosystem that supports an astonishing number of species. How we manage these areas and which plants we put in the ground can truly make a difference!
That’s why we are challenging everyone, whether you have a backyard, a balcony, or a shared greenspace, to take 3 important actions this spring that will help make our urban spaces bird-friendly. To complete the Spring Conservation Challenge, send us photo evidence that you have completed these 3 conservation actions:
Plant Two
Native Plants
Native plants are plant species that occur naturally in an environment and play a crucial role in supporting local wildlife and pollinators who depend on them for food and shelter.
Prevent Window
Collisions
In the United States, it's estimated that over a billion birds die annually from window collisions. Make a change at your home or advocate for change to help prevent window strikes!
Submit a backyard bird
list on eBird
Recording which birds use the spaces around you and sharing that list on eBird contributes to wider knowledge and research on the health of bird populations.
