Want to do more for birds? Voting is one way to make your voice heard.

Birders know that paying attention matters. So does participating in our democracy.

Every election includes decisions that affect our communities, public lands, wildlife habitat, and the birds we love. Federal races may get the most attention, but state and local elections—and ballot measures—can have a direct impact close to home.

The best way to make sure your voice is represented is simple: make a plan to vote on or before Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Then encourage a friend, family member, or fellow birder to do the same.

Make Your Voting Plan

1. Check your voter registration.
Registration is the first step.
Take two minutes to confirm that you're registered and that your information is current.

2. Know what’s on your ballot.
Don't stop at the races at the top of the ticket. Learn about state and local candidates, ballot measures, and other questions you'll be asked to decide.

3. Decide how you'll vote.
Whether you vote by mail, vote early, or vote on Election Day, knowing your plan ahead of time makes it easier to follow through.

4. Use your outside voice.
Cast your ballot—and remind the other bird lovers in your flock to make their voices heard, too.

Denver Audubon is proud to participate in National Audubon’s I Bird, I Vote initiative, a nationwide effort connecting people who care about birds with opportunities to participate in our democracy.

Through I Bird, I Vote, National Audubon provides a voter pledge and resources to help participants check their registration, learn about voting, and make a plan for Election Day. Denver Audubon is sharing these national resources with our local community as part of our broader Birders in Action work.
